“To create one's own world takes courage.” - Georgia O'keeffe
Hi there! I’m Viv, a Latina Licensed Professional Counselor in CT and FL and board certified Art Therapist. I am LGBTQ+ affirming, sex-positive, kink-allied, and HAES oriented. My approach is trauma-informed, person-centered, and holistic, and stems from the belief that empathy, safety, autonomy, and destigmatization are at the root of fostering a therapeutic experience that feels nurturing, validating, and empowering- and ultimately honors the strength and capability that already exists within you.
I am here to guide folks who are looking to slow down and tend to their nervous system, improve self-esteem and assertiveness, practice self-compassion, or work through grief and life transitions. I feel especially passionate about working with folks navigating complex trauma or generational trauma, individuals looking to explore personal identity or non-traditional relationship dynamics, and supporting those who have felt disempowered and isolated due to stigma around mental health struggles. I also love working with creatives looking to explore their relationship with the arts through a non-judgmental lens. As an eclectic therapist, I pull from various evidenced-based modalities based-on your personal, unique needs and lived experiences. I also enjoy moving beyond traditional talk therapy and will often integrate Art Therapy, somatic interventions, music, play, movement, and nature into my work. And of course some yapping and laughing!
I acknowledge the courage it takes to be in the therapeutic process; it is an act of self-love to show up for yourself in this way, and I would be honored to be trusted to walk with you on this journey. You don’t have to carry it all on your own anymore. As your therapist, I will sit with you through heaviness and grief, challenge you to grow in new ways, and hype you up through all the ebbs and flows of life.
